Introducing Expo's new PA: Emily Richards

Hi,

I’m Emily and I have just joined the team here at Exponential Education as one of the new Programme associates. I am so excited to be here in Ghana!

I am originally from Scotland and completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Aberdeen, where I studied a Joint degree in Geography and Anthropology (MA). Following this, I moved to Edinburgh where I completed my Masters degree in Environment and development (MSc).

Throughout my studies I became particularly interested in African development issues which lead me to conduct field research in East Africa, specifically Kenya, where I focused on the social, economic and environmental issues associated with achieving sustainable development. I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Kenya where I met some amazing people and learnt a great deal. The overriding message that I walked away with was that education is paramount to people’s individual and community development and therefore quality education should be available to everyone. This is what drew me to Exponential education and their focus to help provide quality education to all through their peer-to-peer tutoring programmes, I cannot wait to meet my students and get started!

Over the course of this year I look forward to engaging in fascinating conversations, unpredictable Tro Tro rides and immersing myself within the Ghanaian way of life. I’m sure I will have many stories to share, so watch this space!
